Why is my Squarespace form not sending me emails?

By the WebFixed team. Last updated 21 September 2026.

The short answer

A Squarespace form only emails you if an email address is connected in the form’s Storage settings, and the most common causes of missing notifications are a wrong or old address there, the message going to your spam folder, or the form being connected only to a Google Sheet or another service. Open the form block’s settings, go to Storage, confirm the email address, then submit a test entry on the live site. If the address is at your own domain, test with a Gmail or Outlook address as well, because the problem may be with your domain’s email rather than with Squarespace.

How Squarespace forms deliver submissions

Every form block on Squarespace has a Storage setting that decides where submissions go. The options include an email address, a Google Sheet through Google Drive, Mailchimp and Zapier. A form can use more than one of these at once.

If email is not connected, no email is sent, even though the form appears to work and visitors see the usual confirmation message. When email is connected, the notification is sent by Squarespace rather than by the visitor. At the time of writing it comes from form-submission@squarespace.info, with the reply address set to the visitor’s email so that you can reply in the normal way.

The most common causes

  • The notification address in Storage is wrong, misspelt, or belongs to someone who no longer works with you. By default it is the email address of the person who built the site.
  • The notifications are arriving but going to spam or junk, or to a tab such as Promotions or Updates in Gmail.
  • The form is connected only to a Google Sheet, Mailchimp or Zapier, with no email address set.
  • The Google Drive connection has stopped working, often after the Google account password was changed, so new rows no longer appear in the sheet.
  • The mailbox at your own domain is not receiving email properly, for example because it is full, the forwarding is broken, or the domain’s email records were changed.

Check and fix the storage settings

  1. Log in to Squarespace, open the page containing the form and click Edit.
  2. Click the form block and open its settings using the edit or pencil icon.
  3. Open the Storage tab.
  4. Look at the Email entry. If no address is connected, connect one. If an address is shown, read it carefully for spelling mistakes and replace it if it is out of date.
  5. If Google Drive is listed and the sheet has stopped updating, disconnect it and connect it again, signing in to the correct Google account. Squarespace then writes new submissions to a sheet in that account.
  6. Save the form settings, then save the page.
  7. Repeat this for every other form on the site, including forms in the footer and on landing pages.

Submissions made while email was not connected are not sent later. If the form was also connected to a Google Sheet, those entries should be in the sheet. Otherwise they cannot be recovered, which is a good reason to connect two kinds of storage.

Test the form properly

  1. Open the live site in a private browsing window so that you see it as a visitor does.
  2. Fill in the form with a realistic message. Use a different email address from the one that receives the notifications.
  3. Submit it and confirm that you see the form’s confirmation message.
  4. Wait a few minutes, then check the inbox, the spam or junk folder, and any other tabs or filtered folders.
  5. If it is in spam, mark it as not spam and add form-submission@squarespace.info to your contacts or safe senders list.

When the address is at your own domain

If notifications are meant to go to an address such as hello@yourbusiness.co.uk and nothing arrives, not even in spam, change the address in Storage to a personal Gmail or Outlook address for a short time and test again. If the test arrives there, Squarespace is sending correctly and the problem is with the mailbox at your domain.

  • Send an ordinary email to the domain address from an outside account. If that does not arrive either, the mailbox or the domain’s MX records need attention. MX records tell other mail servers where to deliver your email.
  • If the domain was recently moved or connected to Squarespace, check that the MX records for your email provider were carried across.
  • If the address forwards to another mailbox, check that the forwarding still works, because forwarded messages are more likely to be filtered as spam.
  • Ask your email provider whether messages from squarespace.info are being blocked or held by a business spam filter.

How to stop it happening again

  • Connect both an email address and a Google Sheet, so that there is a second record if an email goes missing.
  • Use a shared business address for notifications rather than one person’s mailbox.
  • Test each form after changing email provider, moving your domain, or changing who manages the site. A broken form gives no warning, because visitors still see a confirmation message.

When to get help

If the storage settings are correct, a test to a Gmail address arrives, and email to your own domain still goes missing, the fault is likely to be in the domain’s DNS records, which are risky to edit without experience. It is also worth asking for help if enquiries have been going missing for a while and you need every form on the site checked. WebFixed fixes this kind of problem for a fixed price agreed up front, with one-off fixes from £39 including VAT and nothing charged until you accept the quote.

Related questions

Where do Squarespace form submissions go?
They go wherever the form’s Storage tab says, which can be an email address, a Google Sheet, Mailchimp or Zapier. If none of these is set correctly, the submission is not kept anywhere.
Can I recover Squarespace form submissions that were never emailed?
Only if the form was also connected to another kind of storage, such as a Google Sheet, at the time. Squarespace does not resend old notifications after you correct the address.
What address do Squarespace form emails come from?
They are sent by Squarespace, at the time of writing from form-submission@squarespace.info, not from the visitor. The visitor’s address is set as the reply address, so replying works as expected.
